Árvore frutífera da família Sapotaceae, da espécie Manilkara coriacea Miq. (Mimusops elengi L.; Mimusops coriacea Miq.).
Nota 1 e 2: Originária da Índia e da Malásia, introduzida e aclimada há tanto tempo no Brasil que o Index Kewensis a tem como espécie brasileira. Porte médio, atingindo até 10 m de altura.Folhas grandes, inteiras, alternas, simples elíptico-acuminadas, coriáceas, verde-escuras, Fruto baga pequena, globular-ovóide, lisa, glabra, amarela na maturação; polpa farinhoso-gordurenta, de coloração creme, um tanto seca e lactescente, pouco saborosa, mas comestível e nutritiva, contendo grandes sementes.

Note 1 and 2: It is originated from India and Malasia, introduced in Brasil for a long time that the Index Kewensis considers it as a brazilian species. It is of median height, reaching until 10 m of height.The leaves are big, whole, alternated, eliptical acuminated simple, coriaceous, dark geen color. The fruit is a small globular-ovoid, smooth glabrous berry, and it is yellow when ripen; the pulp is a fatty flour, cream color, a little dry and lactescent, not very flavoured but edible and nutritious, with big seeds.
