Árvore frutífera e fruto da família Sapotaceae, da espécie Pouteria caimito (Ruiz & Pavón) Radlk. (Achras caimito Radlk.; Guapeba caimito Pierre; Labatia caimito Mart.; Lucuma caimito Roem.; Lucuma temare H.B.K.).
Nota 1 e 2: Originária das florestas amazônicas do Peru, Colômbia e Brasil, cultivada com fruteira de quintal em todo o País, desde o Amazonas até Santa Catarina. O fruto da árvore apresenta diversas formas e tamanhos (redondos, compridos, pequenos, médios e grandes podendo atingir até 600 g),lactescente, amarelo quando maduro, liso, glabro, ápice mamiforme, polpa branca, doce e comestível, contendo 2-4 sementes grandes, oblongas, castanho-escuras.

Note 1 and 2: It is typical from the Amazon forest of Peru, Colombia and Brazil. It is cropped as a back yard fruit tree all over Brazil, from Amazonas to Santa Catarina. The fruit of the tree has different shapes and sizes (round, long, small, median and big reaching approximately 600 g), lactescent, yellow when ripen, smooth, glabrous, mammiform vertex, white, sweet and edible pulp, containing from 2 to 4 big dark brown oblong seeds.
