Objective
Enable students to have a basic understanding and current knowledge of molecular genetics, genomics
and its applications in production and animal breeding.

Content
Discussion in the form of theoretical exposition, reading, and analysis of scientific papers, preparation of
literature review for the purpose of oral and written presentation, and laboratory activities involving the
following main topics: 1) Genome sequencing, identification of genetic variation, large scale genotyping;
2) Control of gene expression; 3) QTL mapping; 4) Identification of regulatory regions that control gene
expression; 5) Identification of mutations associated with economic important phenotypes.
