Objective
This course aims to present and provoke discussion on several topics related to nutrition, metabolism and welfare of dairy cattle, with a view to increasing production through intensification, without prejudice to animal welfare.
Content
1. Nutrition and metabolism of the newborn; 2. Food management during the lactation period and its effects on rumen performance and development; 3. Impacts of weaning on animal performance and behavior; 4. Feed management, puberty and development of the heifer mammary gland; 5. Animal grouping strategies; 6. Nutrition, metabolism and behavior of pre-calving cows; 7. Nutrition, metabolism and behavior of newly calved cows; 8. Use of sensors and internet of things to assess animal behavior; 9. Metabolism assessment techniques; 10. Well-being assessment techniques.
