Objective
This course aims to provide support for learning all stages of citrus production and its agronomic
aspects. The lectures on citrus cultivation will be complemented with technical visits to companies of the
productive sector, including citrus nurseries, citrus production companies, and orange juice processors.
During this course, students will participate in discussions and analyzes of Brazilian and world citrus
research. They will also present an individual seminar on a topic related to citriculture, and will prepare
project (in group of students) related to the planning, implementation and management of a commercial
orchard. At the end of the course, they should have adequate training to carry out research and
supervise citrus production.

Content
LECTURES: History and evolution of citriculture in Brazil and in the World. Economic aspects of citrus
production and marketing. Morphology and anatomy. Botanical classification and cultivars. Rootstocks and nursery tree production. Planning and installation of citrus groves. Cultural practices. Crop growth physiology and production physiology. Nutrition and fertilization. Citrus pests and diseases. PRACTICAL CLASSES AND TECHNICAL VISITS: Identification of citrus species and varieties (scions and rootstocks). Nursery tree production. Visits to nurseries, commercial orchards, processing industries, and institutions for support and research in citriculture.
