Objective
To review basic concepts of soil fertility and soil nutrient dynamics. - To prepare the student to be knowledgeable about the technology of obtaining, action and using correctives, agricultural gypsum and mineral fertilizers. - To provide subsidies on the properties of the correctives and fertilizers applied to the Legislation. - To present strategies of management of green and organic fertilizers. - Strategies to increase the efficiency of fertilizer use. - To discuss research needs for the development and evaluation of new fertilizers for Brazilian agriculture. - To present concepts of chemical soil management and fertilization of the main agricultural crops

Content
1. Factors of agricultural productivity, concept and importance of fertilization. Fertilizer loss factors. Importance of Brazil in the production of food, fiber and energy. 2. Presentation of seminars on basic concepts of soil fertility. 2.1 Colloidal fraction. 2.2 Acidity and soil reaction. 2.3 Soil organic matter. 2.4 Soil fertility, nutrient cycling and soil nutrient dynamics. 3. Chemical, physical-chemical and physical properties of the correctives and fertilizers applied to the legislation. Quality control of correctives and fertilizers. 4. Corrective and soil conditioners - efficient use of limestone and gypsum. 5. Nitrogen, phosphate, potassium, calcium, magnesium and sulfur fertilizers. Obtaining, physical and chemical characteristics, fertilizer action and employment. 6. Fertilizers containing micronutrients. Sources, forms of application (soil, leaf, seed, seedling), doses and times of application. 7. Organic and organomineral fertilizers: sources, characteristics, fertilizer action and application. Composting process. 8. Green manures: concept, classification, use and management. 9. Presentation of seminars on chemical soil management and fertilization of the main crops: Soybean, Corn, Sugarcane, Grassland, Reforestation, Citrus, Coffee, Cotton. 10. New technologies in fertilizers. Fertilizers differentiated in agriculture. Fluid fertilizers and fertigation. Corrective and fertilizer application technology. 11. Visit the fertilizer industry.
