RSA Early career research grant schemes: Application deadline: 31st May 2017
This award is open to single applicants in their early career (five years between the date shown on the PhD certificate and the application deadline). The award is provided to support a discrete piece of regional studies and/or regional science research. The value of the award is up to £10,000 and has a maximum time span of 18 months.
Grant value: up to £10,000 (c. €11500; US$12,000)

RSA Travel grant: Application deadlines: 31st May 2017, 31st August 2017, 30th November 2017
We offer members up to £500 towards travel costs when attending a non-RSA event. Recipients of the Travel Grant must be members of the Association at the time of the application, at the time of travel and claim.
Grant value: up to £500 (c. €570; US$600)

RSA Awards: Application deadline: 31st May 2017
Nominations (both self-nominations and third party nominations) are being sought for the RSA:
• Nathaniel Lichfield/ Recent Master Student Award: Applicants need to have graduated with a master`s degree in regional studies and related fields in 2016.
• PhD Student Award: Applicants need to be registered PhD students who have not yet received their PhD certificate.
• Routledge Early Career Award: Applicants need to be early career researchers within five years of the date on their PhD certificate or equivalent.
The Awards’ ceremony will take place at the President’s Event on 16th November 2017 in London, UK. The prize for each of these Award is: a cheque for £500; a certificate; up to £200 discretionary fund toward attending the 2016 RSA President's Event (transport costs).

Regional Studies, Regional Science student and early career mentored paper section: submission deadlines: 31st March 2017, 31st July 2017, 30th November 2017
Our open access journal, Regional Studies, Regional Science, has a section which specifically focuses on publishing short articles from students and early career researchers to make their research accessible to a wider audience. Articles in this section will have a regional focus and will succinctly present the research questions and results whether preliminary or final. The editors of the Early Career Papers section are currently seeking submissions of paper proposals for short articles (max. 3,000 words).

Networking e desenvolvimento de carreira
RSA Central & Eastern Europe Conference 2017: Early career plenary speaker competition, 10th - 13th September, 2017, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania: Application deadline: 31st March 2017
Participate in the early career researchers’ plenary speaker competition and join the plenary stage with key scholars and policymakers in the field. In addition, the successful candidate will receive a complimentary place at the conference, a contribution towards travel expenses and two nights’ accommodation paid for.

European Week of Regions and Cities 2017: Master Class on EU Cohesion Policy - 8-12 October 2017, EU Institutions, Brussels, Belgium - Application deadline: 9th May 2017
As part of the 15th European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC), the biggest event world-wide on regional and urban development, the Master Class on EU Cohesion Policy will be held for PhD students and early-career researchers. The Master Class is a unique format to connect young researchers and will include presentations of papers by the participants as well as lectures and panel debates with policy makers, EU officials and senior academics to improve understanding of and research on EU Cohesion Policy. This year, the Master Class will focus on EU Cohesion Policy’s implementation, the debate about its future post-2020 and EU and international research programmes and projects.

RSA Student & Early Career Conference 2017: Charting a Career Path: Sharing the Learning and Lessons - 2nd- 3rd November 2017, CURDS, Newcastle University, UK - Abstract Submission Deadline: 17th August 2017
This conference aims to provide students and early career researchers (within 5 years after finishing their PhD) opportunities to present their work, receive feedback, network, collaborate and socialise with others working in regional studies and related fields. In addition, the conference will offer sessions on academic publishing, how to promote your research and increase its impact and how to develop your career.
