Planta anual da família Compositae, e do gênero Carthamus.
Nota 1 e 2: Originária da África Oriental. Ereta e ramificada, que alcança até 1,5 m de altura, caule liso e de cor variável desde o verde-claro ao amarelado, folhas ovaladas e verde-escuras. No Brasil, a açafroa é pouca conhecida e plantada, porém tem importância econômica na Argentina, Chile e Venezuela.
An annual plant of the family Compositae, and gender of Carthamus.
Note 1 and 2: It is from Eastern Africa. It is srtaight with many branches, that can reach until 1,5 m of height. The stem is smooth and its color can vary from light green to yellow. The leaves are oval and dark geen color. In Brazil, the saffron is little known, however in Argentina, Chile and Venezuela, has a relevant economical importance. Vulgarization: crocus, daisy, sultana.
