ABRICÓ-DO-PARÁ
Árvore frutífera da família Guttiferae, da espécie Mammea americana L. (Potamocharis mammei Rottb.).
Nota 1 e 2: Pode atingir até 20 m de altura. Nativa das Antilhas e norte da América do Sul, das mais belas árvores do Pará, por suas folhas grandes e lustrosas; vinda da Guiana Francesa na Segunda metade do século XVIII, exsuda látex amarelo e amargo, do qual se faz bebida vinosa, o vinho-toddy ou vinho-de-mamey. Frutogrande, subgloboso, chegando a 17 cm de diâmetro e peso de 2kg, de casca espessa, coriácea, verrucosa, pardo-alaranjada, com pequeno mamilo apical.

Note 1 and 2: It is from the Antilles and the northern region of South America, it is one of the most beautiful trees of Pará State, because of its big and shining leaves; reaching until 20 m of height. It came from the French Guiana on the second half of the 18th century, it exudes a yellow and sour latex, from which is made a kind of wine called toddywine or mameywine. The fruit is big, subglobous, reaching 17 cm of diameter and 2 kg of weight. The peel is thick, coriaceous, wrinkled, brown-orange with a small apical nipple. Vulgarization: mamay, mamey, zapote-mamey.
