Árvore da família Guttiferae, espécie Platonia insignis Mart. (Platonia grandiflora Plach; Moronobea esculenta Arr. Cam. Symphonia esculenta Steud).
Nota 1 e 2: Nativa das Guianas e da Amazônia, habita também o Maranhão, Piauí, Goiás, Mato Grosso até o Paraguai. Tronco chegando a 15 m de altura, folhas opostas, flores grandes, contendo entre 1 e 4 sementes comestíveis.

Note 1 and 2: It is native from Guianas to Amazonia, but it also inhabits Maranhão, Piauí, Goiás, Mato Grosso states until Paraguay. Its trunk reaches until 15 meters high; it has opposite leaves, big flowers, containing between 1 and 4 edible seeds.
