Árvore da família Sapotaceae, da espécie Pradosia lactescens Radlk. (Chrysophyllum buranhem Riedel).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela estende-se de Alagoas até São Paulo e Minas Gerais; Mede até 25 m de altura; Fornece madeira amarelo-escura com veias muito visíveis, compacta, dura, revessa, bastante elástica, própria para obras externas, construção civil, carroçaria, marcenaria, carpintaria e torno; A parte mais valiosa dessa espécie é a casca, de sabor adocicado, cujo extrato é empregado como tônico e poderoso adstringente e hemostático, útil contra a leucorréia, diarréia atônica, metrorragia, hemoptises, catarros crônicos, blenorragias e hemorróidas, bem como asma, escrófulas e quaisquer afecções do aparelho digestivo; Externamente é recomendada na cura de úlceras cutâneas, erisipelas e oftalmias pulverulentas. Vulgarização: guaranhém; gurá-en; guranhém, ibirá-en, imirá-en, ivuranaê, pau-de-remo, pau-doce.
