Nota 1 e 2: Ele tem vasta distribuição geográfica, da Amazônia à Bahia e Mato Grosso. Ele é árvore grossa e altaneira das matas altas com vultuosas dilatações na base, constituindo sapopemas em número de até 5. As folhas são curtopecioladas, de lâmina oblonga, e comprida. As estípulas são grandes, lanceoladas, espatiformes e caducas, deixando ao cair, cicatrizes de 4cm. O receptáculo frutífero é solitário, séssil, globoso, contendo polpa mole e comestível que envolve de 3-5 sementes. Produz borracha, ou seja, substância elástica, terpênica, de alta resistência.

It is tall and thick tree from high forests, with many dilations at the base, forming buttresses in number of 5. Its leaves are short petiolated with an oblong and long blade. The stipules are big, lanceolated and letting scars of 4 cm when falling. The fruit receptacle is single, sessil, globous with a soft and edible pulp that involves 3-5 seeds. It produces a rubber, that is, an elastic and terpenic substance of high resistance.
