PITANGA-MULATA
Árvore da família Myrtaceae, da espécie Eugenia dasyblasta Niedenzu (Stenocalyx dasyblastus Berg.).
Nota 1 e 2: Encontra-se disseminada pelo Rio Grande do Sul, quer isoladas nas margens das estradas, quer em touceiras ao longo das cercas, em capões pelas matas e serras daquele estado. Pode atingir nas florestas mais de 9 m de altura e troncos com circunferência de 90 cm. Folhas curtopecioladas, glabras, luzidias. As flores, que surgem em setembro, são pedunculadas. Ela se frutifica no final do ano e os frutos, vermelho-escuros, são bagas esféricas, sulcadas em gomos lisos e brilhantes, comestíveis e muito apreciadas por homens e bichos.

Note 1 and 2: It is disseminated around Rio Grande do Sul state, whether isolated in the margins of the roads, or in clumps over the fences, in clear openings around the woods and mountains of that state. It can reach up, in the forests, more than 9 m high and its trunks have a circumference of 90 cm. Its leaves are little petiolate, glabrous, and shiny. The flowers that grow in September are pedunculated. It bears fruits in the end of the year and the fruits, dark red ones, are spherical berries, grooved in smooth and bright buds, edible ones and very appreciated by men and animals.
