AMBELÂNIA
Planta arbustiva da família Apocynaceae, da espécie Ambelania acida Rich ( A. tenuifolia Muell Arg., Benteca odorata Rafin, Willughbeia ácida Gmel.).
Nota 1 e 2: Originária das florestas úmidas das Guianas e da Amazônia. Pode atingir até 1,60 m de altura, que exsuda látex branco. O fruto é comestível, ainda que seu suco seja leitoso e pegajoso, sendo indispensável descascá-lo e deixá-lo na água por algum tempo, adquirindo, ao depois, sabor ácido agradável.

Note 1 and 2: It is originated from the humid forests of the Guianas and Amazonia. It can reach 1.60 m of height, its latex is white. Its fruit is edible, though its juice is milky and sticky, so it is necessary to leave it to rest in the water after peeling. It has a nice acid taste.
