Planta da família Oliaceae, da espécie Olea europaea L.
Nota 2: É perene, rústica, de muita longevidade, altura de até 20 m, tronco ereto, com ramificações flexíveis e sem espinhos. Folhas simples, opostas, pecíolo curto, lâmina lanceolada, vilosa, verde-escuro na face inferior. Inflorescência em cacho ou panícula de forma, tamanho e cor variável, mesmo em único exemplar. A floração é abundante, porém formam-se somente 4 ou 5 frutos por inflorescência. Eles são conhecidos como azeitonas, sendo drupas típicas e globosas, grandes ou pequenas, e geralmente carnudas. Todas as partes contêm óleo, porém o mesocarpo (polpa) é a mais rica.

Note 2: It is perennial, rustic, with a great longevity and until 20 m high, erect trunk, flexible branches and no thorns. Simple and opposite leaves, short petiole, lanceolate and villous lamina, dark green on backside. Inflorescences in bunches or panicles with variable shape, size and color, even in a single specimen. Its flourishing is abundant, but only 4 or 5 fruits grow through inflorescence. These are known as olives, being typical and rounded drupes, big or small, and usually fleshy. All parts contain oil, but the mesocarp (pulp) is the richest one.
