HORTÊNSIA
Arbusto da família Saxifragaceae, da espécie Hydrangea macrophylla Serv. Divide-se em três grupos: japonica, hortensia e stellata, cada um com muitas variedades.
Nota 1 e 2: Procedente da China e do Japão; desenvolve-se bem em climas frios. Ele é semilenhoso, muito diversificado. Varia de 1 a 2,5 m de altura; folhas decorativas, grandes, denteadas, brilhantes e coriáceas. Inflorescências volumosas, compactas, com numerosas flores estéreis, brancas, róseas ou azuis; ocasionalmente mostram flores férteis. Cultivada em vasos, grupos ou renques, a pleno sol, exige solo fértil e úmido. Geralmente é podada energicamente no fim do inverno, para florescer na primavera e no verão. Multiplica-se por estacas.

Note 1 and 2: It is from China and Japan; grows well in cold weather. It is a semi-wood shrub, very diverse. It varies to 1 to 2.5 m tall; has decorative leaves, big, toothed, shiny and leathery. It has voluminous inflorescences, compact, with many sterile flowers, white, rosy or blue; sometimes shows fertile flowers. Cultivated in vases, groups or rows, in sunlight, requires fertile and humid soil. It is usually pruned by the end of the winter, in order to blossom in the summer and spring. It multiplies itself by stakes.
