FAVEIRO-DO-CERRADO
Árvore da família Fabaceae — Faboideae, da espécie Pterodon pubescens Benth.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela encontra-se principalmente nos cerrados dos estados de Goiás, Minas Gerais e São Paulo, mas pode ser vista nas matas secas da região Centro-Oeste do Brasil. Ela é leguminosa, podendo alcançar 15 m de altura, possui tronco retilíneo e sua casca é pardo-acinzentada, é lisa nos exemplares jovens e levemente fissurada nos mais desenvolvidos. Sua madeira é de grande resistência, amarelo-pardacenta, sem brilho e áspera, empregada na construção de pontes, postes, mourões, estacas e vigas. O óleo das sementes, na medicina caseira, pode ser empregado no combate à esquistossomose, com fama também de anti-reumático.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs mainly in the cerrados of the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais and São Paulo, but it can be found in the dry woods of the center west region of Brazil. It is leguminous, reaching approximately 15 m of height, with a rectilinear trunk and gray brownish bark. It is flat when young but slightly fissured in the older ones. Its wood is yellow brownish without bright and coarse, but of great resistance used for bridge constructions, posts, stakes and beams. Its seed oil, in home medicine, is used for fighting against schistosomiasis and rheumatism.
