GENGIBRE
Erva da família Zingiberaceae, da espécie Zingiber zingiber Karst. (Amomum zingiber L., Curcuma longifolia Wall., Zingiber aromaticum Noronha, Zingiber majus Rumph., Zingiber officinalle Roscoe, Zingiber missions Vall.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ele tem sua origem no Sudeste da Ásia, Índia e arquipélago malaio, disseminando-se por todas as zonas tropicais das Antilhas, da América Central e do Sul. No Brasil, destaca-se no estado da Bahia. Tem rizoma perene, articulado, ramoso, espesso, carnoso, coberto de folhas escamosas, relativamente achatado, de epiderme amarelada. É utilizado na fabricação de bebidas, como alimento cozido e também como condimento aromático por estimular a digestão.

Note 1 and 2: It has its origins in the southeast of Asia, India and the Malayan Archipelago, wide spreading all over the tropical zones of the Antilles, Central and South America. In Brazil, it is highly cropped in the state of Bahia. Its rhizomes are perennial, articulated, branchy, thick, fleshy, covered with leaves which are relatively flat and of yellowish color epidermis. It’s used in beverage production, cooked food and also as an aromatic spicy for digestion stimulating.
