GINJA
Árvore pequena da família Rosaceae, da espécie Prunus lusitanica L. (Laurocerasus lusitanica Roem.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa da Espanha e de Portugal continental e ilhéu, no Brasil está presente no sul do país em coleções pomológicas, mas sem interesse econômico. Suas folhas são grossas, coriáceas, lanceoladas e devido a sua morfologia e coloração podem ser usadas como ornamentais. Suas flores estão dispostas em racemos mais longos que as folhas. Seus frutos são oval-arredondados, pequenos e negros, obtendo-se a ginginha, por infusão em aguardente.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of Spain and continental Portugal and its islands. It is present in the south of Brazil, in orchard collections, but without any economic interest. Its leaves are thick, coriaceous, and lanceolate and due to their morphology and color can be used as ornamental. Its flowers are disposed in racemes longer than the leaves. Its fruits are rounded oval, small and black, which produce a beverage when infused in sugar cane brandy called ginginha.
