GRITADEIRA
Arbusto da família Rubiaceae, da espécie Palicourea rigida HBK.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa dos campos e cerrados dos estados de São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás e Mato Grosso. Ela tem ramos aéreos que partem de base subterrâneo. As folhas são grandes, duras, coriáceas, de nervuras salientes na página inferior, que agitadas ao vento produzem um som seco, razão do seu nome. As flores são amarelas, pequenas, tubulosas, grupadas em panículas grandes, multifloras. O fruto é baga globular, verde-amarela a preta com a maturação plena. Seu chá é medicinal, considerado diurético poderoso e antirreumático.
A shrub of the family Rubiaceae, of the species Palicourea rigida HBK.
Note 1 and 2: It is native of the fields and savannas of the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás and Mato Grosso. It has aerial branches from an underground base. The leaves are big, hard and coriaceous of strong ribs on the inferior page when agitated by the wind produce a dry sound. The flowers are yellow, small, tubular, arranged in big panicles in great quantity. The fruit is a globular berry, greenish yellow to black when is ripen. Its tea is medicinal with powerful diuretic and anti-rheumatic properties.
