GUAMACHO
Árvore da família Cactaceae, da espécie Pereskia colombiana Britt & Rose.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa da costa atlântica e das regiões abaixo de 500 m de altitude, áridas, arenosas e salinas e foi introduzida no Brasil pela fronteira. Ela pode atingir até 10 m de altura, tronco lenhoso armado de espinhos, utilizado para cercas vivas. Seu fruto é baga verde, de 1-2 cm de diâmetro, globosa, com folíolos que caem na plena maturação, paladar doce, agradável, de polpa viscosa que encerra 6 sementes negras e lustrosas.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of the Atlantic coast and of the regions below 500 m of altitude, which are also arid, sandy and salty. In Brazil, it was introduced by the frontier. It can reach until 10 m of height, woody trunk armed with thorns, which are used for green fences. Its fruits are green drupes, of 1-2 cm of diameter, globous, with follicles that fall down when ripen. Its taste is sweet and delicious, viscous pulp with 6 black shining seeds.
