Árvore da família Anacardiaceae, da espécie Astronium graveolens Jacq.(A.balansae Engl.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela faz parte da flora do sul da Bahia, Espírito Santo e Minas Gerais, por todo o Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo até o Rio Grande do Sul. Ela magnífica, de tronco esbelto e liso, coroado por copa de distribuição harmoniosa. Suas folhas e seiva tresandam a um odor terebintináceo, de cheiro forte e desagradável. Sua madeira é valiosa, compacta, dura, resistente e durável, apropriada para dormentes, postes, esteios e marcenaria em geral.
A tree of the family Anacardiaceae, of the species Astronium graveolens Jacq.(A.balansae Engl.).
Note 1 and 2: It is part of the flora of the south of the states of Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and present all over Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo until Rio Grande do Sul. Its trunk is magnificent, imposing and flat crowned by a harmonious canopy. Its leaves and sap exhale a turpentine odor, which is strong and unpleasant. Its wood is valuable, compact, hard, resistant and durable which is used for door, post and mainstay manufacturing and cabinetmaking in general.
