Árvore da família Leguminosae-Mimosoideae, da espécie Inga vera Willd (Inga inga Britton).
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é habitante da vegetação florestal das Guianas até São Paulo. Ele tem folhas penadas e folíolos de 4-6 jugos, oblongos, pubescentes, de raque alada. As flores são brancas em espigas e grandemente melíferas. O fruto é vagem ligeiramente recurva, de margens espessas, tomentosa, com 3-15 cm de comprimento 1,5 -2,5 cm de largura, contendo polpa dulcíssima e saborosa, a ponto de se tornar laxativa se ingerida à farta.

Note 1 and 2: It is a habitant of the forestry of the Guianas until São Paulo state. It has pennate leaves and follicles of 4-6 jugos, which are oblong, pubescent and of one side spine. Its flowers are white disposed in spikes and highly honeybee host. Its fruit is a thick margin tomentum grooved pod of 3-15 cm of length 1.5 x 2.5 cm of width, with a very sweet and tasty pulp, which can be purgative if eaten in excess.
