Árvore da família Leguminosae-Mimosoideae, da espécie Inga rubiginosa D.C. (I. rubiginosa Kuntze, I. peltadania Harmis, Mimosa rubiginosa Rich.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é típico da América tropical, ocorrendo nas florestas das Guianas e do norte do Brasil. Ele pode atingir até 20 m de altura e 0,80 m de diâmetro do tronco. As folhas são alternas, penadas, pecioladas, raque nua ou alada, com glândula de 2mm de diâmetro na inserção de cada par de folíolos. A inflorescência é axilar, em espigas fasciculadas, laxas, paucifloras, tomentosas. As flores são hermafroditas, corola amarelada, estames com até 6 mm de comprimento. O fruto é legume retangular de até 25 cm de comprimento x 2,5-3 cm de largura x 1-2 cm de espessura. As sementes são reniformes e pretas. A polpa é branca, doce e consumida ao natural.

Its leaves are altered, pennate, petiolate, naked or winged rachis, with a glandule of 2mm of diameter in the insertion of each pair of follicles. The inflorescence is axillary in spikes, which are fasciculate, large, few and tomentous. The flowers are hermaphrodite with a yellowish corolla, with stems reaching until 6 mm of length. The fruit is a rectangular legume of until 25 cm of length x 2.5-3 cm of width x 1-2 cm of thickness. The seeds are reniform shape and black. The pulp is white, sweet, and can be consumed raw.
