Arbusto da família Piperaceae, da espécie Piper methysticum Forst. (P. inebrians Soland., Macropiper methysticum Shook & Arn.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é procedente de ilhas do Pacífico Sul. É dioécia, de 2,5 a 3,5 m de altura, quase lisa, folhas redondo-ovaladas, ápice acuminado e levemente pilosa abaixo das nervuras e no pecíolo com espigas pequenas. Das raízes se produz uma bebida e extrato utilizado como fitoterápico de efeito calmante, ansiolítico e psico-relaxante.

Note 1 and 2: It is from the islands of the South Pacific. It is dioecious, reaching 2.5 to 3.50 m of height, almost smooth. The leaves are oval rounded with acuminate apex and slightly hairy under the nerves and small petioles and has small spikes. From the roots a beverage and an herbal extract can be produced, which has calming, anxiolytic and psych relaxing properties.
