Nota 1 e 2: Introduzida no Brasil a partir da África e da Ásia tropicais, conhecida no mundo inteiro e cultivada há 8 000 anos na Babilônia. Seus maiores produtores são os povos árabes. Ela se poliniza livremente e, por isso, crê-se que as formas cultivadas são híbridas dos mais diversos cruzamentos. A Phoenix canariensis Chaub. e P. robelini Obrien, que não são frutíferas, mas esplêndidas ornamentais.

Note 1 and 2: Introduced in Brazil from the tropical regions of Africa and Asia, known worldwide and cultivated for over 8 000 years in the Babylon. The Arabic people are its biggest producers. It pollinates itself freely, and because of that, it is believed that they are hybrid, of the most various crossings. The Phoenix canariensis Chaub. and P. robelini Obrien, are not fruitful, but impressive ornamental ones.
