Planta arbustiva da família Lythraceae,da espécie Cuphea pseudovaccinium St. Hill. (C. elongata Pohl; C. nitens Pohl; C. splendens Pohl).
Nota 1 e 2: Nativo de Alagoas, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais e Goiás, ramoso, que atinge até 2 m de altura; ramos alternos, pubescentes, profusamente glandulosos; de casca quase preta; folhas curto-pecioladas, opostas, oblongas, coriáceas; flores rosa-viva, em espigas; fruto baga ovóide violácea, medindo 3 cm de diâmetro, ácida, comestível.

It is branchy, reaching until 2 m of height; alternated , pubescent and profusely glandulous branches; black bark; short-peciolated, opossite, oblong and coriaceous leaves; bright pink flowers in spikes; the fruit is a purple ovoid berry, mesuring 3 cm of diameter, acid and edible.
