Nome vulgar de algumas espécies da família Characidade, destacando-se as espécies 1) Hyphessobrycon parvellus e 2) Mimagoniates micropeles.
Nota 1 e 2: Elas são originárias do Norte e Sudeste do Brasil. A espécie Hyphessobrycon parvellus alcança somente 3 cm de comprimento. Alimenta-se de insetos e de vegetais superiores. A Mimagoniates micropeles, também conhecida como piabinha-azul, atinge 7 cm e as fêmeas desovam cerca de 100 óvulos. Duas outras espécies habitam o rio São Francisco: a Psellogramus kennedyl e a Hyphessobrycon gracilis, também conhecida por piabinha-branca, que atinge 4,5 cm de comprimento.

Note 1 and 2: They are originated from the North and Southeast of Brazil. The species Hyphessobrycon parvellus reaches only 3 cm long. It feeds of insects and higher plants. The Mimagoniates micropeles, also known as piabinha-azul, reaches 7 cm and the female spawn around 100 ova. Two other species live in the São Francisco river: Psellogramus kennedyl and Hyphessobrycon gracilis, also known as piabinha-branca, that reaches 4.5 cm long.
