Árvore da família Leguminosae-Papilionatae, da espécie Geoffraea superba Humb. & Bonpl. (G. striata Morong.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é típica do nordeste brasileiro. Encontrado na Bahia, em Pernambuco, Alagoas, no Ceará e em outras partes do Brasil, e ainda no Peru e na Venezuela. Seus frutos, não obstante amargos, são consumidos nos estados do Nordeste. Tem folhas alternadas, imparipenadas, composto de 13-25 folíolos oblongos, pilosos; flores fétidas, amarelas em racemos axilares; fruto vagem globosa com uma semente, comestível devidamente cozido, tanto o fruto como a semente. Tem valor medicinal, como anti-helmíntica.

Note 1 and 2: It is from the Northeast region of Brazil, found in Bahia, in Pernambuco, Alagoas, and Ceará states, also in other regions of Brazil, besides in Peru and Venezuela. Its fruits, although bitter ones, are consumed in the Northeastern states. It has alternate imparipinnate leaves, with 13-25 oblong and hairy leaflets; fetid flowers, yellow ones with axillary raceme; rounded pod fruit with one seed, edible properly cooked, as the fruit as the seed. A plant with medicinal value, as anthelmintic.
