MARMELEIRO
Árvore da família Rosaceae, da espécie Cydonia oblong Mill. (Pyruscydonia L.; Cydonia vulgaris Lamk.).
Nota 1 e 2: É pouco cultivado no Brasil, mas teve um relevante papel nos primórdios da agricultura nacional. Cultivado somente nas regiões frias, tendo as mesmas exigências que a macieira, a pereira, o pessegueiro e a ameixeira. O tipo mais simples de propagação é a estaquia, executada no começo do inverno. Ele demora entrar em produção, geralmente, aos 5 anos aparece a primeira e modesta safra.

Note1 and 2: It is little cultivated in Brazil but it had a relevant role in the early days of Brazilian national agriculture. It is cropped only in the cold regions, having the same growth requirements of apple, pear peach and plum trees. The simplest technique of propagation is cutting, implemented in the beginner of winter. It takes longer to go into production, generally, when it is 5 years old, the first and modest harvest begins.
