Planta da família Tiliaceae, do gênero Corchurus, que abrange cerca de 40 espécies, sendo as duas principais: 1) Corchurus olitorius L.; 2) Corchurus capsularia L.
Nota 1 e 2: Nativas da África e Ásia e introduzidas na Índia e no Paquistão. Ambas são cultivadas no Brasil. São semeadas na estação quente e chuvosa, pois exigem calor e umidade. Reagem bem à adubação, principalmente nitrogenada. Produtoras de fibras de interesse têxtil.

Note 1 and 2: They are from Africa and Asia, and introduced in India and Pakistan. Both of them are cultivated in Brazil. They are spread in hot and rainy seasons, because they demand warmth and humidity. They respond well to fertilizer, mainly the nitrogen. They produce fibers used in textile manufacturing.
