TUCUMÃ-DO-PARÁ
Palmeira da família Palmae, da espécie Astrocaryum vulgare Mart. (A. tucumoides Drude).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela estende-se do Pará até o Nordeste brasileiro. Ela é cespitosa, formando bastas touceiras de troncos finos, encurvados na base e acauleados. As folhas podem ter até 7 m de comprimento e são inclinadas para cima, espádice de até 1,70 m. Os frutos são bem consumidos ao natural e transformados em vinho. Fornece excelente palmito, de difícil extração pelo ror de espinhos que o defendem.

Note 1 and 2: It is widespread from Pará state to the Northeast region of Brazil. It is caespitose, making huge clumps of thin trunks, which curved at the base and stemless. Its leaves can have until 7m of length are inclined to the top, with a spadix of 1.70 m. Its fruits can be consumed in natura and transformed into wine. It has an excellent heart of palm but of difficult extraction due to the thorns that protect it.
