Árvore-arbusto da família Leguminosae-Cesalpinioidae, da espécie Zollernia ilicifolia Vog. (Z. houlletiana Vog.; Coquebertia ilicifolia Brogn.).
Nota 1 e 2: É elegante, lenhosa e bela no Nordeste até o Sudeste brasileiro, está registrada entre as plantas indígenas do estado de São Paulo, habitante das matas de beira-mar, onde floresce nos meses de outono. Ela possui folhas largamente oblongas, às vezes espinhentas e onduladas nas margens, floresce no outono em panículas pequenas alongadas; o tronco da madeira boa para carpintaria e o fruto é legume ovoide, pequeno, 3 cm de comprimento, comestível.
A shrub to tree, of the family Leguminosae-Cesalpinioidae, of the species Zollernia ilicifolia Vog. (Z. houlletiana Vog.; Coquebertia ilicifolia Brogn.).
Note 1 and 2: It is an elegant, woody and beautiful tree, present in the northeast to the southeast of Brazil. It is registered as an indigenous plant of São Paulo state forest flora. It has widely oblong leaves, sometimes thorny and undulated on the margins, it flourishes in October in small-elongated panicles; the trunk of wood is good for carpentry and the fruit is ovoid vegetable, small, with 3 cm long, edible.
