Árvore da família Bombaceae, da espécie Matesia cordata H.B.K. (Quararibea cordata bem.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa e cultivada nas matas virgens no vale do Rio Solimões. Ela é altaneira, atingindo até 45 m de altura quando nativa e 10-15m, quando cultivada. As folhas são largocordiformes, palminervadas, de até 50 cm. Suas flores são amareladas ou branco-rosadas. O fruto é baga ovalada de 10-13 cm e peso de 400-500 g, com cálice persistente envolvendo sua base, epicarpo grosso e coriáceo, contento polpa alaranjada de sabor doce, onde ficam a sementes.

Note 1 and 2: It is native and cropped in the virgin forests in the Valley of Solimões River. It is tall, reaching 45 m of height when native and 10-15 m when cropped. Its leaves are large cordate and palm nerved of until 50 cm. Its flowers are yellow or rose-white. Its fruits is an oval berry of 10-13 cm and weighs from 400-500 g, with a persistent calyx surrounding its base, a coriaceous and thick epicarp, of a sweet orange pulp, where the seeds are placed.
