A climbing shrub of the family Hippocrateaceae, of the species Salacia scandens Griseb.
Note 1 and 2: It is native of Trinidad until the Guianas, spreading to Brazil. Its fruits are fleshy, globous and have a not very sweet pulp, which can be eaten raw.
