Fruto da família Rosaceae, da espécie Eriobotrya japonica (Thunb.) Lindl. (Photinia Gray).
Nota 1 e 2: É comum no Brasil, nativo do centro-oeste da China e é cultivado no mundo todo, particularmente no Japão. É amarelo-claro, obovoide, com 2,5-6,0 cm de comprimento, de polpa alaranjada, sub ácida e doce na plena maturação. Normalmente as sementes são transportadas por pássaros, morcegos e outros animais silvestres.

Note 1 and 2: It is common in Brazil, but it is native of the center west of China and cropped all over the world, mainly in Japan. It is light yellow color, obovoid with 2.5-6.0 cm of length, orange sour and sweet pulp at maturation stage. Normally birds, bats and other wild animals spread its seeds.
