Arbusto da família Boraginaceae, da espécie Cordia sebestena L. (Cordia myxa Forsk., Cordia speciosa Salisb., Lithocardium sebestena Kuntze, Sebestena sebestena Britt.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é nativo da América tropical. Pode atingir de 1-10 m de altura, com ramos novos pubescentes. As folhas são alternas, simples, inteiras, 9-16 cm de comprimento por 5-14 cm de largura. As inflorescências são em corimbos terminais. As flores são hermafroditas, de corola vermelha ou alaranjada. Os frutos são drupas secas, ovoides, medindo 1,5-2,0 cm de comprimento por 12 mm de largura, enfiado dentro do cálice, branco, polpudo.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of tropical America. It can reach from 1-10 m of height with new pubescent branches. Its leaves are alternate simple and whole, of 9-16 cm of length x 5-14 cm of width. Its inflorescences are in terminal corymbs. Its flowers are hermaphrodite, of red or orange corolla. Its fruits are dry ovoid drupes, which measure 1.5-2.0 cm of length x 12 mm of width, inside a pulpy white calyx.
