RABO-DE-ARARA
Arbusto da família Macgraviaceae, da espécie Norantea guanensis Aubl. Nota 1 e 2: Ele ocorre no norte do Brasil. Ele é semi-herbáceo, escandente, de florescimento cistoso, com ramagem longa. As folhas elíptico-ovaladas, coriáceas, brilhantes e dispostas de maneira espiralada. As inflorescências grandes, cônicas, formadas no verão, com numerosas flores vermelhas muito vistosas. Comporta-se como trepadeira, desde que tenha um apoio ao qual se prendem as raízes adventícias dos ramos. No hábitat natural são encontradas árvores palmeiras. É muito sensível a geadas. Multiplica-se facilmente por estacas, aproveitando-se os ramos já providos de raízes.
A shrub of the family Macgraviaceae, species Norantea guanensis Aubl. Note 1 and 2: It occurs in the north of Brazil. It is semi-herbaceous, ascendant, cystoscopy flourishing, with long stems. Oval-elliptic leaves, leathery, bright and disposed in a spiral way. Big inflorescences, conical, shaped in the summer, with numerous eye-catching red flowers. It behaves as a climbing plant, since it has a support, which the adventitious roots are attached to it. In the natural habitat, they are found in palm trees. It is very sensitive to frost. It is easily multiplied in stacks, taking advantage of the branches already provided by the roots.
