Planta da família Urticacea, do gênero Bohemeria, que abrange diversas espécies, destacando-se: Bohemeria utilis Dec. e Bohemeria nivea Gaud.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é originária da Ásia Oriental. No Brasil, o rami é plantado em regiões de clima tropical com elevada porcentagem de umidade ao ar, chuvas bem distribuídas e solos férteis, frescos e profundos, onde dá boas produções. Ela é dicotiledônea, perene, monoica, se salienta pelo valor de suas fibras liberianas, que apresentam excelente qualidades e, por isso, são utilizadas em mistura com o linho, a seda ou a lã, a fim de conferir-lhes resistência e brilho. Além dessa utilidade, 50% do vegetal são formados pelos ponteiros e folhas, que possuem elevado teor de proteína e caroteno, constituindo, assim, matéria de grande valor como forragem, constituindo, assim, matéria de grande valor como forragem verde ou, depois de seca, como matéria prima para a fabricação de farinha para rações.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of Eastern Asia. In Brazil, ramie is cultivated in tropical regions with high-elevated percentage of humid air, very well distributed rains and fertile soil, fresh and deep, where it has good productions. It is dicotyledonous, perennial, and monoecious. It is highlighted through its liberian fibers, which present excellent quality and, for that, are used mixed with linen, silk or wool, in order to grant them resistance and glow. Besides that utility, 50% of the vegetal is formed by the pointers and leaves, that have high content of protein and carotene, forming, this way, high value matter as green fodder or, after dried, as raw material used for the manufacturing of floor to animal feed.
