Arbusto da família Ericaceae, da espécie Rhododendron thomsonii Hook.
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é originário da China e Tibete. Ele é lenhoso, de 2-6 m de altura, com folhas elípticas longas, coriáceas, permanentes e aglomeradas na extremidade da ramagem, permanecendo até no inverno. As inflorescências são terminais, com flores grandes, vermelhas ou rosadas, proporcionando efeito extraordinário no outono-inverno.
