Algas da classe Rhodophyceae, com aproximadamente 4.000 espécies.

Nota 1 e 2: A maior parte delas é marinha (= ou – 3.800 m), ocorrem em profundidade de até 60m. São vermelhas, devido a ficoeritrina, que mascara a clorofila e as carotinas nos cromatóforos. São pluricelulares e não ultrapassam 50 cm.

Algi of the class Rhodophyceae with approximately 4,000 species. 

Note 1 and 2: Most of them are marine (more or less 3,800 m), occurring until 60 m. They are red due to the phycoerythrin, which hides the chlorophyll and carotenes in the cromatophores. They are multicellular and do not grow more than 50 cm.
