Nota 1 e 2: Ela é procedente da África tropical. É herbácea, perene, acaule, de 15-20 cm de altura, com folhas em roseta, aveludadas, frágeis e carnosas. Seu florescimento é contínuo. Da hibridação e melhoramento surgiram variedades com flores brancas, róseas, roxas e bicolores, bem como plantas anãs. Multiplica-se por enraizamento das folhas em ambiente protegido.
An ornamental plant of the family Gesneriaceae, of the species Saintpaulia ionatha Wendl.
Note 1 and 2: It is from the tropical Africa. It is herbaceous, perennial, stemless, of 15-20 cm of height, with velvet fragile, fleshy leaves in rosetta shape. Its flowering is continuous. From hybridization and genetic improvement, many varieties were developed with white, pink, purple and bicolor flowers as well as dwarf plants. It multiplies itself by leaf rooting in a protected environment.
