Planta da família Nymphaeaceae, da espécie Victoria regia L.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa do Norte do Brasil, Bolívia e Guianas. É aquática emersa, rizomatosa, herbácea, com folhas flutuantes e pecíolos longos, espinhentos e gigantes, com as margens levantadas e avermelhadas. A face interior da folha tem uma rede de nervuras e compartimentos cheios de ar, de cor verde-arroxeada. As flores são grandes, perfumadas com numerosas pétalas brancas e depois róseas, na primavera-verão. É cultivada em lagos e tanques em regiões tropicais, muito sensível ao frio. Multiplica-se por sementes e divisão de rizomas.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of the north of Brazil, Bolivia and the Guianas. It is emerging aquatic, rhizomatous and herbaceous, with floating leaves and huge long thorny petioles of rising and reddish margins. The interior leaf page has a wrinkled net and purplish full air compartments. The flowers are big, perfumed with numerous white petals and later pink ones in the spring-summer. It is cropped in tropical region lakes and tanks because it is sensible to cold temperatures. It multiplies itself by seeds and rhizome division.
