Árvore pequena sempre verde da família Ebenaceae, da espécie Diospyrus discolor Willd (D. blaneoi D.C).
Nota 1 e 2: É nativa da Malásia, do sul da Índia e das Filipinas. É muito ornamental, com folhas agudas, 10-25 cm de comprimento, verdes glabras na face superior e alaranjadas pubescentes na inferior. Flores como cera, brancas; 4 pétalas. Frutos medindo 8 cm de diâmetro; com casca aveludada, vermelho-carregada ou alaranjada. Muitos frutos se desenvolvem sem sementes e se tornam de formato globoso-achatado, mas os comestíveis possuem são alongados e têm formato igual ao da maçã; polpa macia, carnosa, brancacenta, aromática para uns, mas para outros fede àqueles queijos de cheiro forte, embora seja sempre saborosa.

It is very ornamental, with acute leaves, 10-25 cm long, green glabrous on the upper side and orange ones on the lower side. Flowers like wax, white ones; 4 petals. Fruits with 8 cmof diameter with velvet, dark red or orange bask. Many fruits grow without seeds and become into globular acute shape, but the edible ones are long and have the same shape of apples; soft, fleshy, and white pulp, considered aromatic to ones, but stinking like cheeses with strong odor to others, although they always are tasty.
