Overview

In a multi-departmental and multi-disciplinary environment, the Graduate Program in Agricultural Microbiology seeks professional training in master and doctoral levels, one of the most traditional graduate programs in Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz", University of São Paulo at Piracicaba, Brazil. Its professionals are prepared for careers in teaching and microbiological research in a supportive environment that encourages collaboration and innovation.

Scope

The improvement of intellectual training, promoting training in microbiology focused on Agricultural Sciences to generate knowledge, incentives for research and higher education related to understanding animal cell systems, plant and microbial, using in vivo and in vitro methods; application of knowledge developed with cellular systems to improve processes, products and services; contribute methodologies and knowledge relating to the environment and to monitor the food quality and safety, processes and services provided to society.

Objective

The goal of the Graduate Program is the formation of high-level teaching and research in the areas of Environmental Microbiology and Microbiological Industrial Processes, generating basic and applied through cutting-edge research development in view of the scientific and industry demands.

Accreditation

The graduate program in Agricultural Microbiology is accredited by CAPES, a governmental organization which is responsible for assessing and accrediting higher education institutions in Brazil, with a grading scale ranging 1-7, where 7 is the maximum score. In the most recent triennial assessment (2010-2012), the Agricultural Microbiology program scored 5.

Digital library of theses and dissertations

Theses and dissertations defended at the University of São Paulo starting in 2001 have been made available for online research and download. The project is associated with the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD), sponsored by UNESCO and provides the option of browsing the Agricultural Microbiology program catalog by thesis, dissertation, author or college.
