Nota 1 e 2: Espécie africana, de crescimento rápido, folhagem permanente e de floração abundante na cor vermelho-alaranjada, existindo uma variedade de flores amarelas; Os botões florais surgem intumescidos por um líquido que escapa em esguicho quando se aperta, de onde provém o nome popular da árvore; O néctar é extremamente tóxico para as abelhas e outros insetos.
