Árvore da família Annonaceae, da espécie Annona purpurea Moc. & Sessé (A. manirote H.B.K.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela habita do México ao Panamá e ao norte da América do Sul; Suas folhas são curtopecioladas e espessas; Suas flores lembram as da A. muricata, mas são quase sempre sésseis, solitárias, extra-axilares; Seu fruto tem entre 15 – 20 cm de diâmetro, com polpa alaranjada, abundante, fibrosa, muito perfumosa, comestível, com sabor que tem certa semelhança com o da manga, mas variável de planta para planta.

Note 1 and 2: It inhabits from Mexico to Panama and the north of South America; Its leaves are thick and short-petiolated; Its flowers resemble the ones from A. muricata, but they are solitary, extra-axillaries and don’t have any support; Its fruit has between 15 – 20 cm of diameter, with an orange, abundant, fibrous, very aromatic and edible pulp, with a taste that has certain resemblance with the mango one, but it can vary from plant to plant.
