Árvore da família Caryocaraceae, da espécie Caryocar glabrum (Aubl.) Pers. (Pekea ternata Poir.; Rhizobus glaber Steud.; R. saouwari Corrêa; R. souari Steud.; Souari arbor Barr.; S. glabra Aubl.; Caryocar toxiferum B. Roiz).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa da América do Sul; O seu tronco chega a 1,20 m de diâmetro, com raízes formando contrafortes e folhagem proporcionando copa arredondada; O seu fruto é globoso-elipsoidal, recoberto por indumento ferruginoso, coriáceo, que se destaca na plena maturidade, mesocarpo brancacento e carnoso, endocarpo duro, eriçado de espinhos oblongos, fortes e agudos, encerrando 1 -4 amêndoas subovóides, comestíveis e saborosas.
