Ela tem casca pardo-avermelhada, espessa, muito fendida; Ela fornece madeira ou alburno branco, espesso e cerne pequeno, vermelho-claro, compacta, pouco elástica, por demais quebradiça, de longa duração; O óleo essencial (cabué-icica) que se obtém do lenho, e geralmente conhecido como resina, é aromático e passa por anti-reumático.
