Gênero de plantas, que abrange aproximadamente 50 espécies, destacando-se a ornamental: C. equisetifolia L.
Nota 1 e 2: Elas são originárias da Austrália. Elas são arbóreas, lenhosas, de forma piramidal e em geral monóicas. Os ramos novos são articulados, apresentando em cada nó folhas escamiformes com soldaduras na base. Internódios estriados e verdes. Inflorescências masculina alongadas, dispostas nos terminais dos ramos mais novos, dotadas de flores nuas de um único estame, protegido por 4 brácteas reduzidas. Inflorescência feminina terminal disposta em um ramo especial curto, composta de flores nuas com um ovário bicarpelar, protegido por uma bráctea e duas bractéolas. Fruto seco indeiscente tipo samaróide, contento uma semente.

The new branches are articulated, showing in each knot scale leaves welded at the base. Wrinkled and green internal knots. The male inflorescences are alongated, disposed in terminals of young branches with bare flowers of only one raceme protected by 4 reduced bracteas. Female terminal inflorescences are diposed in a special short branch, composed of bare flowers of a bicarpelar ovary, which is protected by one bractea, and two bracteoles.The dry fruit is indehiscent, a samaroid type with one seed inside.
